10 Möhnetal - Möhne Valley

Wet meadows, Willow and Alder forests border the upper reaches of the River Möhne. In recent years, renaturing of many parts of the River Möhne and its floodplain was carried out.

11 Arnsberger Wald - Arnsberg Forest

The Arnsberg Forest is one of the largest contiguous forest areas in North Rhine-Westphalia. Many small and medium-sized streams cross this area.

12 Moosfelde

The mainly deciduous Moosfelde forest complex is an interesting and diverse place where there is a lot to discover. There are near-natural streams with Alder-lined banks, marshy backwaters and impressive old trees.

13 Siebenbuchen

The Teutoburg Forest/ Egge Hills Nature Park includes the Siebenbuchen Nature Reserve. An interactive forest adventure trail makes the visit a special experience.

14 Diemeltal und Königsseite - Diemel Valley and Königsseite

Impressive nature combined with myths and legends. In the Diemel Valley near Marsberg the river is flanked by forests that have retained their original character, and by richly structured valley slopes that are cultivated in an ecologically compatible manner.

15 Glockengrund

The Glockengrund near Marsberg is like a small oasis in the cultivated landscape. Smallholder farms still exist here and provide a habitat for many rare plants and animals.

16 Weiße Frau

The more than 550-meter-high valley slopes "Weiße Frau" (White Lady) and "Egge", with their mosaic of valuable forest, cliff and open land habitats, are a fantastic landscape experience.

17 Niederwälder bei Visbeck - Coppice forests near Visbeck

Coppice forests have become rare. These witnesses to historical forest use fascinate with their multi-stemmed trees that have grown into interesting shapes. The conservation of such forests is a special concern of nature conservation.

18 Bruchhauser Steine - Bruchhausen Rocks

The mountain meadows with their wealth of flowers in the high-altitude areas of the Sauerland show the most beautiful aspects of the region. Around Winterberg you will find the most significant examples of this habitat in North Rhine-Westphalia.

20 Hunau

Up to 818 metres in height, the Hunau mountain ridge is one of the highest elevations in North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition to large stands of deciduous trees, look out for two moors, a habitat that is rare in the Sauerland region.

22 Gelängebachtal - Gelänge Stream Valley

The landscape around the Gelänge Stream is characterised by a mosaic of habitats subdivided into small plots of land. Within a very small area, you can experience the whole diversity of the Medebach Basin – the so-called "Tuscany of the Sauerland".

23 Orketal - Orke Valley

The numerous streams are the arteries of the Sauerland. But water alone does not make a stream. The Orke with its wealth of floodplain and river dwellers shows this impressively.

24 Liesetal und Hilmesberg - Liese Valley and Hilmesberg

A mosaic of open land and forest habitats traditionally characterises the forest and meadow valleys of the Sauerland. Some valleys have recently lost their diversity because of land use changes. In the Liese Valley, however, you can still experience this diversity today.
